Born on the Texas-Mexico border, Melissa Hickey is an award-winning filmmaker with a bachelor's in Anthropology from Columbia University and a master's in Directing from the American Film Institute Conservatory. She made her television directorial debut on the final season of OZARK with ep 410, “You’re the Boss”. Vulture magazine said of the work—

The parallel tracks of Marty and Wendy in this episode, along with really confident direction, make this one of the best of the season.

Melissa followed that with episodes of SUPERMAN AND LOIS for the WB, MAYANS for FX, and most recently, AMERICAN RUST for Amazon.

She is an inaugural member of the Ryan Murphy Half Foundation Mentorship Program, an inaugural member of the Netflix Series Directors Development Program, one of eight fellows in the Sony Pictures Television Directors’ Program, and took part in the Warner Brothers Television Directors’ Workshop.

Her short film, Ni-Ni, premiered at Clermont Ferrand, won a number of Jury and Best Short awards, and was recognized by the DGA with a Jury Award for Best Female Director. She is the recipient of the Daniel Petrie Scholarship, the Women in Film Scholarship, and the Richard P. Rogers Spirit of Excellence.

As a writer, Melissa is an Academy Nicholl's Fellowship Semifinalist, and with PANIC, a 19th century drama/horror set in rural New England, a fellow of the Sundance Screenwriters Intensive.
